2014 SESYNC Undergraduate Interns
The 2014 cohort of SESYNC interns included 15 students who worked with professors at the University of Maryland and Coppin State University, and with professionals at the U.S. Global Change Research Program and The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Interns worked on a wide range of tasks and projects related to socio-environmental issues. Some examples of the work done by the 2014 interns include: assessing the ecological state of a coastal marsh, preparing climate indicators for the National Climate Indicators System, analyzing energy consumption in buildings on campus, analyzing data on effective ways to communicate with beekeepers, and surveying residents about knowledge and attitudes towards stormwater management practices. Additionally, interns engaged in weekly meetings with SESYNC staff and postdocs to learn about socio-environmental synthesis.
