"Authors’ Workshop for a Compilation of Classic and Contemporary Writings Tracing the Development of Socio-Environmental Research"
Our proposed volume, Foundations of Social-Environmental Research, seeks to address the fragmentation of knowledge production associated with socio-environmental research by providing a single, go-to source of classic readings and contemporary theories that constitute the intellectual lineage and current scope of socio-environmental research across disciplines. Our book proposal is currently under review at a leading university press. We have identified a collection of 55 articles and book selections foundational to socio-environmental research, starting with publications dating back to the late 1700s and extending through to the leading approaches guiding socio-environmental research today. These selections have been grouped into four parts, some with subsections. Each section will be accompanied by an introduction that discusses the key themes of the assembled articles, situates them in their historical context, and points the reader to other relevant readings that supplement the selections in the section. This workshop will convene the authors of the section introductions, with the goal of reviewing and discussing their draft section introductions.
