Summer Institutes

The computational summer institute held annually at our facilities in Annapolis, MD provides a launching point for socio-environmental scholars to learn a broad suite of cyber-technologies in a congenial atmosphere. The 4-5 day short course offers participants hands-on instruction and project focused coaching on software tools available through open source licenses or that are widely available at most research institutions. Courses typically focus on using R for data processing and analysis, GIS, and web applications, but each summer institute may be customized to participant interests. Past courses have included sessions on python, version control, relational databases, javascript, open source GIS, and methods for qualitative data.

The table below includes links to upcoming, current, and past offerings of the (typically) annual CSI. Please follow the "Opportunity" link to apply for upcoming events or view the "Syllabus" link for courses whose registration period has closed.
