On February 12, 2013, the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC) welcomed Dr. Gillian Bowser of Colorado State University to present the SESYNC Seminar "A Tale of Two Networks: Women, Social Media, & Sustainability." Watch the video below, and find it on our YouTube channel here.
About the seminar
Sustainability, social media, and women are a unique combination. How do people network around concepts of sustainability, and what is the role of social media and social networks in particular? The Global Women Scholars Research Network uses the platform of the Commission for Sustainable Development, Rio+20 to look at how women network around a science issue, particularly sustainability and climate change. Our goal is to look at new ways for engaging women and minorities in science and more importantly for engaging new audiences in science and conservation of the environment and climate change.
