SESYNC launched in 2011 with the goal of accelerating research and scientific discovery focused on solving problems at the interface of humans and the environment. This required enhancing teams' and individual participants' capacities and skills to bridge varying epistemologies, methods, and approaches to advance socio-environmental synthesis and science.
By implementing highly adaptive practices and innovative programs, SESYNC fostered unique collaborations among researchers across disciplines and sectors—from the natural, social, and computational sciences; governmental and non-governmental organizations; and more. Those research partnerships resulted in data-driven publications, action-oriented products, and new socio-environmental research communities that have influenced the public’s thinking, researchers’ careers, and organizations’ decisions.
Along with SESYNC’s resources for learning socio-environmental basics and accelerating team science, these results continue to serve an ever-growing community of socio-environmental researchers worldwide.
